Manhart’s BMW M235i is the M2 GTS we’ll never have

The BMW M2 – in a few days we will see it for sure – and some of us are already thinking of a hypothetical BMW M2 GTS or CSL. But as happened in its previous iteration – the fantastic BMW 1 Series M – we do not enjoy the bliss of a lightweight and radical version. The same could happen with the future M2. In case the flies, from Manhart Racing they have already created their personal interpretation of what could perfectly be an M2 GTS. You just need to boost your engine and a very special body kit.

M235i at heart, M2 GTS at spirit

In Frankfurt, BMW could present the new BMW M2, with at least 360 hp of power.

The first thing a hypothetical BMW M2 GTS needs is more power. The 3.0 TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine has been brought up to 430 hp. A power identical to that of the BMW M3 / M4 engine, achieved thanks to a new turbo, a larger intercooler, a reprogramming of the ECU and a new exhaust system. This performance improvement had already been introduced by Manhart Racing about a year ago, in a preparation focused on the circuits developed on the same basis, a BMW M235i.

Returning to the car at hand, Manhart Racing has equipped it with one of its Widebody body kits. This kit gives it a much broader look than the stock M235i actually has. The effect achieved is as desired: it looks like an M2, wide, gross and radical. A carbon fiber spoiler crowns the rear, signed by RKP. Nail 19-inch HRE P44SC luxury wheels in diameter contribute to a more sporty image. Dynamically, it carries a new suspension with adjustable coilovers signed by KW.

These coilovers are added to a high-performance braking equipment signed by Brembo. No reference to weight reduction, from which we understand that this body kit is mounted on a conventional M235i. Manhart featured a near-track M235i last year. If this kit had been equipped with that, we would have a really serious machine that could well be called the M2 GTS. All in all, the power of this version will far exceed the 360-370 hp that the production M2 will have.
