In May, on the occasion of Barcelona Salon 2015, SEAT introduced us to a renewed SEAT Ibiza in which a facelift was introduced, a very focused update on the more technological side. Now this face lift comes to SEAT Ibiza Cupra, to the most performance alternative and along the way it has increased its power.

The SEAT Ibiza Cupra has the XDS electronic differential.

This new generation of the SEAT Ibiza Cupra moves along the same path that in its day followed the Volkswagen Polo GTI encountering the disappearance of the 1.4 TSI mechanics in favor of the 1.8 TSI.

This mechanical change is accompanied by an increase in power that takes the Ibiza Cupra from 180 horses to 192 horses, the same as the Polo GTI, also increasing its torque from 250 Nm to 320 Nm available from 1,450 rpm to 4,200 rpm.

For now we know that it is available with a 6-speed manual transmission, but SEAT has not confirmed whether or not there will be an alternative with a DSG transmission, as if it exists in the case of the Polo GTI.

Prestationally it is capable of marking a 0 to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds while its maximum speed is 235 km / h. Its consumption is 6 l / 100 km.

Beyond this mechanical change we find that the next most consistent evolution lies within it, with a new multimedia system with MirrorLink function for iOS and Android, a new steering wheel inherited directly from the León and changes to its instrumentation and air vents.

With SEAT DriveApp we can customize the screen of the multimedia system or have the “Where is my car?”

No new changes have been introduced on the outside. We continue to find those sports bumpers that the model already had before the facelift, that central exhaust outlet, 17-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights and rear optics with the same technology …

Now standard with the Cupra Drive Profile

With this face lift the function has been introduced Cupra Drive Profile thus allowing us to configure the hardness of the suspension and the steering through a simple push.
