Beauties in the bathroom, for an elegant bathroom. And on the shores of Lake Como. L’glamorous appetizer of summer which has been renewed for 80 years, and which will start tomorrow to celebrate this important anniversary, is the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and Villa Erba to Cernobbio, a unique opportunity to witness the parade of the best examples of design on four wheels of the past, present and future.

And yes, why, just to do some examples, next to the Bugatti Atlantic 57SC of 1938 (built in 3 specimens), theAlfa Romeo 8C 2900B Berlinetta (presented in 1935 and made in 6 copies – the one present at Villa d’Este will return to Italy after a 62-year “pilgrimage” in half the world) Momo Mirage (sports sedan designed and bodied by Frua in 1972 and built in just 5 units by Peter Kalikow and Alfred Momo of the New York Jaguar Garage), at Villa d’Este on design of the future it will be expressed by several concept cars.

Starting, in no particular order, with the Bugatti Veyron Centenaire, presented in Geneva last month and exhibited at Villa d’Este, in four specimens which honor as many drivers who gave prestige to the manufacturer from Molsheim: Blue France for Jean-Pierfre Wimille, Italian Red for Achille Varzi, British Racing Green for Malcolm Campbell and Silver Germany for Hermann Zu Leiningen.

Between the prèmiere dames of the event, at its absolute debut in the eyes of the international public, they must be remembered Bertone style, on the catwalk with the Mantis with Corvette V8 engine and carbon fiber bodywork, Morgan, which celebrates its 100 years of activity and will bring a two-seater based on the Aeromax chassis and from which it inherits the V8 engine, and Zagato, that at Villa d’Este will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the atelier by bringing the definitive version of the concept Perana Z-One.

From Infinite will be presented the Essence, which achieved so much success at the Geneva Motor Show and which reflects the style of the future Infiniti. Revolutionary “hybrid” concept, it is powered by petrol (V6 3.7 l with 440 HP) and electric propulsion (for 160 HP); curiously, the traction is front. The fully electric Rinspeed iChange will be brought from nearby Switzerland.passenger compartment that expands to accommodate 2 or 4 passengers, and the Mindset, two-seater with “hybrid” power supply.

The British Union Flag will be represented by the Aston Martin One-77, which debuted as a non-working concept in Geneva; bearing body in carbon fiber, 320 km / h and 3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h.

The Fisker Karma will arrive directly from the Detroit Motor Show, the first production car produced by Fisker: one 4 seats and 4 doors to plug-in hybrid engine which, with a few seconds of recharging (the so-called “shock”) can travel 80 km.

Out of competition (and we leave it for last for this reason) the Gina Light, which will “descend” to Cernobbio from Munich: a concept created by BMW born with the intention of adapting (even “physically”) to the needs of those who drive it thanks to a special fabric body.

In the coming days we will provide you with more details on the cars present at Villa d’Este.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
